"Strolling the castle grounds in Schwetzingen" Castle - Schloss Tip by swissfondue

Castle - Schloss, Heidelberg: 185 reviews and 338 photos

If you are staying in Heidelberg consider a day trip to Swetzingen half an hour away by bus. Swetzingen is quite compact and can be traversed by bus but is easily walkable. If you like interesting gardens the castle grounds are lovely with lots of fountains and ponds and some quirky features as well including a mosque. The gardens are divided in sections with baroque and english influences. You could easily spend a few hours strolling around.

Swetzingen itself is famous at the home of asparagus. If you like asparagus visit around May as this is the harvest time. The Spargelfest (asparagus festival) occurs annually around this time.
