"Marble Mountain - Danang" Vietnam Things to Do Tip by cafank

Some classic sculpture at Marble Mountain
by cafank

Ngu Hanh Son or Marble Mountains are about 9 k's from Danang and are more or less an obligatory stop if you are travelling to or from Hoi An. It is a National Cultural Site and there are many visitors - and shysters (check my warnings)

The area is not too large and you can do it all in a couple of hours (or less if you are fit!) The main cave is really spectacular.

Was it worth it? Yes but I did not return when offered a second trip due to the hassles on the first.

Instead I wandered around the marble sculpture workshops and shops. Interesting way to fill in some time, there are some beautiful and exquisite sculptures and carvings (for some outrageous prices) but I wonder where the marble really comes from - the mountain would be gone by now if it was all quarried locally.
