"La Conciergerie" Conciergerie Tip by Tom_Fields
Conciergerie, Paris: 74 reviews and 173 photos
Built in the early 14th century by King Phillipe the Fair, this was the first permanent prison in Paris. During the French Revolution, and the Terror that followed, thousands of condemned people spent their last days here, including the deposed King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette.
Guides tell chilling tales of the conditions here, the tortures, and executions. This is Paris' version of the Tower of London.
