The National Museum of the Middle Ages (Musee nationale du Moyen Age) is at the former monastery of Cluny. This was once the site of Roman baths. During the Middle Ages, it was a Clunaic monastery. In 1843, Alexandre du Sommerard purchased this place and made it into a museum of medieval art. Today, it's among the finest medieval museums in the world.
