A great way to enter the old city is through the Powder Tower, one of the Prague's 13 original gates, and on the coronation route of Bohemian kings throughout the centuries. Built in the 14th century, the gate became known as the "Powder Tower" after becoming used for gunpowder storage a few centuries later.

You can climb the steep stairs to the top for some great views of the old city.

Directions: Nearest stop is Namesti Republiky. Walk south from there, past the Municiple House (Obecní Dum).
