"Bixby Bridge" Bridges Tip by sue_stone

Bixby Bridge is a stunning bridge that spans Bixby Creek, and if you travel along Highway 1 you can't miss it. It is one of the world's highest single span bridges and a much photographed feature of the Californian coast.

The bridge is 218m long and 85m high, and its main span is 98m long. It was build between 1931-1932 and once completed in enabled vehicles to easily access the Big Sur region.

The easiest place to stop for photos is on the northern side of the bridge where you will find some space for parking on the road side. After you cross the bridge (going south) there is a larger stopping area though it is a bit further away and you will have to do some major zooming to get a good shot of the bridge.
