The Royal Academy of Arts, an independent institution, which is led by artists and architects with the purpose of promoting the creation and appreciation of the visual arts. Their goal is achieved by exhibition, education and debate.
A brief history of the Royal Academy is as follows: George III founded it in 1768. The Academy is governed by artists to ensure that they are able to 'promote the arts of design'
The Royal Academy was the first institution in the UK which was devoted solely to the promotion of the visual arts and raising the standing of art, artists and architecture. The RA has an an unrivalled reputation for being a venue for exhibitions of international importance.
I have visited several times and have found most of what is shown as being enjoyable - however we are all art experts...that is we are all art experts in what we like and can appreciate.
