In Sidi Khelifa you still can admire the remains of the Roman town called Pheradi Maius. It can be reached by a road branching off from the road linking Carthage to Hadrumetum (the present GP1 Tunis-Sousse). We have news from Pheradi Maius since at least the IIIth century BC and it became a Latin municipality under Marcus Aurelius (IIth AD) and then a roman colony at the end of IIth century or beginning IIIrd century AD. The main parts of this tiny city that have arrived until our days are the forum and the baths; I enjoyed a lot my visit to Sidi Khelifa: the baths are very interesting and all the remains in general surrounded by the green mountains are very, very beautiful.
