This is a most enjoyable walk which is suitable for most people as there is a nice promenade to walk with a variety of cafes, restaurants, ice cream and snack bars for those who would like to stop for a while and absorb the scene whilst enjoying a coffee.
We took the train from Cascais to Estoril, only 2 stops and then had a quick look around the town centre before moving onto Tamariz beach which is located only 100 metres from the train station. It is a very nice beach with a surf break on the groyne and a rock seawater swimming pool on the other side of the groyne. Plenty of nice sand and sun shelters with many people on the beach mid morning.
Walking towards Cascais we came to Monte Estoril beach and a little further on near Moitas we stopped at a cafe for a cold drink and watched the ocean and world go by. Then on towards Cascais we passed by Conceicao beach, Rainha beach and onto Ribeira Beach in front of the Cascais square.
The walk was easy and most likely would take 40 minutes at casual pace. There were many people who cycled the promenade, however I would only hire a bike if I intended to go further along the coast.
