"Orinoco here we come" Venezuela Things to Do Tip by cochinjew

Venezuela Things to Do: 187 reviews and 278 photos

you are most welcome to look at the information on my pages on Venezuela. I particularly like being in the Orinoco delta. from Puerto Ordaz, one can get to Tucupita and from there arrange a boat ride to Curiapo. i have been there twice and enjoyed both times. there is a small hotel in curiapo.. orquidea. owned by a guyanese family, Gomez by name. their relatives in tucupita has a travel agency..if you can gethold of lobo tours in puerto ordaz, you can find delightful accomodations in the company of veteran venuzuelan travellers. Puerto Bolivar is interesting as a side trip. The trip into Roraima and all the way into Santa Elena de Uiren is nothing short of magnificent. Apart from PUerto Ordaz, all the other places are relatively safe. Fly to Puerto Ordaz from Caracas, saving time. Good Luck. I met and visited Warao indians in many of their homes ( I am a cultural anthropologist), there is a nice group of anthropologists working with Indians in Puerto Bolivar.
