  The wonder itself

We did a day trip to Stonehenge and Avebury from Mickleton in the Cotswolds. It was quite an ambitious day with about 5 hours of driving but at the same time very 'doable'.

I know Stonehenge is a tourist trap but we had come many 1000s of kilometres from Australia so we had to at least see the monument. I was too cheap to fork out the money for the slightly closer view and don't really regret it. The people on the inside were not that much closer than we were and lets face it there were so many of them that they really couldn't appreciate the splendour in peace and quiet.

It was a lot smaller than I had imagined but worth seeing all the same.

Adult entry is 6 pounds 50 although National Heritage and national trust members are free.

Address: Wiltshire
Directions: There are comprehensive details regarding how to get to Stonehenge from many places and via many means on the website.
