This beautiful Mosque is located right in the city centre.
It was completed in 1958, and is built of Italian Marble, with gold mosaic and english stained glass. It is built after Sultan Omar, who steered the nation safely through the years following WW11, and establishing its independence and sovereignty.

In the lagoon that surrounds the Mosque, is a replica of a 16th century Mahligai or Royal Barge, where religious ceremonies were staged in the 1960's and 1970's.

The Mosque is open to tourists Saturday to Wednesdays, from 8 - 12noon.

Thursdays, non - muslims cannot enter.

A robe is supplied for you to put on, and you remove your shoes.
