DO NOT go to Athens in July-August. The best time is September and the first week of October, or April - May.
It's very hot there and because of the topographic structure not much of a wind to clean the air. If you are sensitive to air pollution and high humidity - don't go there in the summer time. Otherwise Athens is a very beautiful place to visit.
