"St.Basil's Cathedral" Red Square - Saint Basil Cathedral Tip by Anya_D

St.Basil's Cathedral, the Red Square. This place is a must for everyone visiting Moscow. Red square and the Kremlin are the heart of our capital. The Red square used to serve as a market square outside of the city walls (at the time when Moscow was as big as the area inside the Kremlin only). St. Basil's cathedral was built in honor of a holiday called The Holy Protection of Our Virgin. Later it got its second name, St. Basil's, after a poor man, fool in Christ Basil, who lived in Moscow during the reign of Ivan the Terrible and was famous for his prophetic gift.
