Pittsburgh is the heart of western Pennsylvania. At the turn of the 19th century it was known as the Smoky City for the large number of factories belching into the skies. Many of those factories have been stilled and the city has sought to renew itself among other ventures. Like many other cities in this region, Pittsburgh has still lost a considerable number of potential citizens. That said, Pittsburgh has overcome its grimy industrial legacy and stands as a city that is a fascinating destination for the would-be tourist. Lots of history; an art destination of sorts; a great place for the sporting enthusiast - Pittsburgh has a lot to offer. See more in my Pittsburgh tips to come soon.
