During my 12-day tour around Mongolia, we stopped off to visit a few nomadic families at their gers on a whim by just turning up on their doorstep. Mongolian's are extremely welcoming people and dropped what they were doing and came and greeted us and gave us milk tea and dried mare's milk curd known as aaruul. I suppose any visit of any kind doesn't happen all the time given how remote some of them are but I always felt that we were interrupting and taking advantage of their hospitality by turning up unannounced. Maybe it's just me being British but we hardly do this back home!
