Or playing Chinese chess. Chinese chess involves checkmaking the king. There is a "river" between both sides on the board and some pieces can cross the river while others cannot.

The pieces of opposing sides are differently colored and have different Chinese characters but with the same sounds to differentiate (in case someone is color blind?)
