"Saint Bartholomew's Church (St Bart's)" Saint Bartholomew's Church Tip by MM212
Saint Bartholomew's Church, New York City: 5 reviews and 9 photos
Commonly referred to as ?Saint Bart?s?, the monumental Saint Bartholomew?s Church is a Protestant Episcopal church -- part of the Anglican Communion. The Byzantine-style church, with hints of Art Déco, was completed in 1930, except for its magnificent Romanesque portal. In fact, the intricately carved portal dates from 1902 and was moved from the previous Saint Bartholomew?s Church and incorporated into the construction of the new church. The Church was designed by Bertram Goodhue, but he died before its completion, which led to the alteration of the final design from his original plan. St Bart's is located on Park Avenue and 50th Street, next to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. It has an outdoor terrace which, during the summer months, turns into a popular outdoor bar and restaurant called "Café St Bart's."
