Hoellental (hell-valley) is the name of the narrow and quite rough valley, where in ancient times all of the transports had to go through, when they wanted to go from Titisee/Neustadt to Freiburg im Breisgau. At the end of that hell-valley they called a small village : Himmelreich (heaven), certainly because all of the troubles were over in that flat landscape there.
Even nowadays, when you have taken the steep road through the Höllental with plenty of heavy trucks in front of you, with icy bends in wintertime etc. you might be happy to be back on ordinary roads again.
The village of Himmelreich itself has NO places of interest for the ordinary tourist, except maybe the funny name of the village printed out at the signpost in the train-station and of course the signpost for the trainstation-name.
It is really just a pity, that the station looks more like a Sprayer's heaven nowadays !
b.t.w. take a look at my last picture : The village itself will not have any name of the village Himmelreich shown along the road, except this only sign-post that will take you from the main road through Hoellental / hell-valley to Himmelreich.
