"Pope Innocenzo XI (XI Ince Papa)" Buda Castle - Royal Palace Tip by Airpunk
Buda Castle - Royal Palace, Budapest: 164 reviews and 374 photos
In a not overwhelmingly catholic country, it is almost a surprise to see a statue of a pope, yet a quite modern one. That?s because Pope Innocenzo XI played a big role in the expulsion of the Turks in 1686. The bronze statue was designed by Joszef Damko in 1936.
What was strange for me was the designation of popes: First the number, then the name and then the pope title.
