When I visited Beijing I was wondering if there had been any modern day visitors to Beijing that had not been to the Forbidden City! You know, nobody is really interested in doing something until it is truly "forbidden." To do it then seems to give you a sense of achievement.

The Chinese Government has certainly capitalized on this and charges all us "Westerners" a fee to wander through and look at the sights.

The Forbidden City is Spectacular in size and all tourists enter via the ?Meridian Gate? which is opposite Tian?an Men Square. The Meridian Gate then leads you to the Outer Court.

Address: North of Tiananmen Square
Directions: In the Center of Beijing
