Well Red Deer is not exactly and thing to do but it's for sure not an off the beaten path destination in Alberta. It's located about half way between Calgary and Edmonton on the Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway and with a population of less than 90,000 people which makes it the third largest city in Alberta. Most people know this place for Gasoline Alley which is a place where motorists fill up and gas on the way between Edmonton and Calgary. There is more to this place than that but by not much. There is a large choice of hotels here and a fair amount of restaurants for the size of the city although is no real attractions for the average tourist. There is the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame here and also and old fort. Red Deer does make a good base for exploring the surrounding region if you already have explored some of the more exciting regions of the province. This place serves it's purpose as a place where agricluture and oil is distributed to other regions and production of petrochemicals.
