  Clock Tower atop Grace Church

Favorite thing: Grace Church's clock tower stretches to the sky, having marked time for decades. I think it's a very pleasing addition to the edifice.

As you probably know, clock towers were an important element to business and farming beginning in the 18th century. Most courthouses had them in order to issue standard time since many people did not own clocks of their own. Now it's a wonderful tradition!

This clock tower was given in memory of Thomas P. Ott (August 18, 1888-January 9, 1946) by his brother, George. I thought the dedication plaque was worth citing:

'A constant reminder to use wisely the time and talents entrusted to us by Almighty God'.

A wise saying we can all live by.
