"Tapas" Sevilla Favorite Tip by Martin_S.

Favorite thing: The Tapas legend is on its way out apparently....When we studied up on Spain before our trip we learned that "Tapas" meant "covering" and its origin was from the pubs when you ordered a beer you would get a small dish to cover the beer glass and the "custom" was to put a little something in the dish to eat, hence the "Tapas". This food was only a few bites, but it was free with the ordering of a beer.
We searched for this in most of the towns we visited, and every beer I ordered came WITHOUT a tapas...with ONE exception and that was in Granada. Here in Sevilla the Tapas "bars" served three types of tapas, the "mini", the semi and the full. The mini as you see them in the photo is only two bites per piece but still cost 2-3 EURO EACH....the full tapas ran as much as 16-20 EURO and even it was not a real meal. Prices varied around Andalucia between 1.5 Euro all the way up to 22 Euro, depending on what you were getting and WHERE you were getting it, but the "free meal" seems to be no more.
