A flight over the Nazca Lines is one of the highlights of any trip to Peru. The lines cover an area of 500 sq km of arid plain. So far, more than 300 drawings, representing geometric figures, animals, plants and people, have been discovered

The flight costs $50 per person and lasts about 30 minutes. There is a line of Cessnas waiting at Nazca airport. Each plane will not take off until it is full. I flew in a 4-seater Cessna with two other passengers. If you can, try to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the shadows make the lines easier to see and photograph. I flew in the middle of the day, when the sun was overhead, so my photographs are not that great. Don't worry which side of the plane you sit as the pilot will make two passes over each figure so that it can be seen from both sides. The pilot was really helpful and made sure that everyone saw all of the main figures, which are, flying in an anticlockwise direction from the airport: the Whale, Trapezoids, the Dog, the Monkey, the Hummingbird, the Condor, the Spider, the Iguana, the Tree , the Hands and the Astronaut.
