"Steel Bridge" Steel Bridge Tip by Gypsystravels

Steel Bridge, Portland: 4 reviews and 4 photos

The Steel Bridge was build in 1912 and is the only "double-decked bridge with a telescoping vertical lift" in the world.

The upper deck is used for the Lightrail, vehicles and pedestrians. The lower deck which is only about 25 feet above water level carries trains across daily. The lower deck lifts often allowing bridge traffic to pass.

It's a very interesting looking bridge to say the least.
