  Rob Roy Glacier

The Rob Roy Glacier Track is in the Mount Aspiring National Park, a stunning place with mountains, glaciers, river valleys and alpine lakes.

The last bit of the road in has a number of shallow river fords to cross. At the end of this road is the Raspberry Creek carpark and the start of the track.

The track follows Rob Roy Stream through beech forest and then heads up a gradual incline through forest and into alpine vegetation and spectacular views of the hanging glaciers beneath Mount Rob Roy. There is a great view point at the end of the track.

Allow three to four hours to complete this track and its an hour from Wanaka and 1 hour back, so you can spend most of a day or at least half a day doing this. I highly recommend it!!

Directions: To get there, it takes about an hour in a vehicle from Wanaka, you go on the West side of the lake out past Glendu Bay, past the Treble Cone skifield and into the incredible Matukituki Valley and finally into the national park.
