Located close to the town of Hope, these were one of my favorites in BC.

From the car park, we followed the trail that led us to what was a part of the Kettle Valley Railway. It includes five tunnels and a series of bridges through the gorge

The Othello Tunnels were cut through solid granite from 1911 to 1918 to complete the Kettle Valley Railway. I don't know if the line could be called a real success, as it experienced many washouts and rock slides, and was closed in 1959.
The chain of tunnels is linked by a suspension bridge and a wooden bridge, has great views, and we thought it was a wonderful area to wander through.
Walking is easy, with a 4 km return walk on the abandoned railway taking us through the tunnels and the spectacular Coquihalla Canyon gorge.

Standing in the Gorge, we thought, what a mammoth job this would have been back in those days, blasting 5 tunnels through cliffs of solid granite, that rose 100metres!

RAMBO, First blood, was filmed here over a period of 6 weeks.
Overs filmed here are...... Shoot to Kill, and The Adventures of Yellow Dog.

The Park has a few picnic tables and pit toilets located near the parking lot and trailhead.

OPEN.....April 1 to October 31.

The park is closed during the winter months due to unstable conditions, falling rocks and ice.

Address: Off Highway # 5, north of Hope
Directions: Day-use Area Vehicle Parking Fee: $1.00 per vehicle / hour to a maximum of $3.00 per vehicle per/day.
