"City Hall - Hotel du Ville (1878)" Architectural/Culture (Old and New) Tip by yooperprof
Architectural/Culture (Old and New), Montreal: 39 reviews and 48 photos
Favorite thing: Montreal's attractive City Hall is modelled upon a similarly classic structure in Tours, France. Well proportioned for its site, the structure dominates the square without seeming overwhelmingly bombastic.
It's a historic site, too: in 1967, the French President Charles de Gaulle gave a stirring speech from the balcony which heated up the sentiments of Quebec nationalists.
