Coming down on the cable car from Gimmelwald
by Ekaterinburg

Gimmelwald is a quintessential Alpine village about one hour's journey from Interlaken. To get there you need to catch one of the branch line trains into the mountains from Interlaken Ost station. This takes you to Lauterbrunnen where you cross the road opposite the station and get a bus to Stechelberg. From here you catch the cable car to Gimmelwald. All legs of this journey can be paid for individually but as I mentioned in my hotel tip, you can book the whole thing before you leave Interlaken and just one ticket covers you for everything, there and back. I booked this ticket at my hotel and it represents a huge saving in time and hassle. Maybe it costs a ferw francs extra to book it this way but it is well worth it. Cost is CHF30.40 , around EUR 20.

See my Gimmelwald page for photos and descriptions of Gimmelwald.
