Philadelphia Things to Do: 825 reviews and 1,480 photos
I think this is where Philadelphia's most eclectic shops, good restaurants and great people watching occurs. Long known as the edgiest street in Philadelphia, catering to everyone. Residents and visitors, teenagers and adults, preppies and punk rockers, artists and attorneys all mix seamlessly together on South Street. The restaurants reflect the various ethnic groups of several nearby neighborhoods. There are also performance venues, the fringe theater, festivals, and live music.
There are over 300 shops, more than 60 eateries, bars and music venues. South Street is the place to find eclectic artsy clothing, We enjoy lining up for a real Philly cheesesteak,at Jim's, eating outdoors at Jon's or Bar & Grill or Bridge Foys and finding live music to listen to. There are ethnically diverse restaurants, bars that keep the party going long after dessert and galleries and performance spaces help make South Street the place to meet. The development of South Street’s east side has spread west of Broad Street, but the traditional definition of the district spans up to 14 blocks from Front Street to Broad.
Directions: South Street/Headhouse District is from Front and 10th Street to 4th Street between Lombard and Christian Streets.
