This was a royal residence. This fact was very evident from the entrance, to the size, to the unstated splendor. We loved the tunnel of trees as we entered, we loved the gardens, we loved the tower and courtyard where the original chateau stood. We loved the placement on the river, we loved the arches over the river. But we must have been overwhelmed at this point in our day though because our visit was perfunctory and very typically touristy. We walked the gallery, we wandered the rooms, we posed for pictures outside. I'm sure there was more to appreciate and enjoy, but you just can't do it all in an afternoon.
