Parikia's backstreets aren't quite the maze that some other places in the Cyclades are (Mykonos town being a prime example), there's basically just one, long street that runs behind the waterfront. It runs pretty much from behind the windmill at the port area, behind the kastro, down to the edge of town at the southern end, where it spreads out a little from its otherwise single-street feel. Every now and then there are sidestreets that lead off to the front. Dotted about are little interesting items of architecture - a statue here, a fountain there, nice balconies, small churches It's a nice place by day, even nicer by night when the shops seem to come alive with colour and cast their glows out into the street.
