Getting to Lantua Island: One pier over from the Star Ferry Station on Hong Kong Island (Hong Kong Central Station) you will find the ferries to the outer islands (Mui Wo). You can take a regular ferry there which is HK$10.50 (approx. US$1.50)and about a 45 minute ride. There also is a faster ferry service which is HK$26. Once on the island, you will need to take bus#2 to get to the monastery and Buddha (HK$16, try to have exact change). It is almost an hour ride but it is a very scenic one winding through the mountains and past the lake. Coming back, you can do the same route in reverse, or you can take a different bus to the train station and catch a train back.
