"Hellfire Pass Museum" Kanchanaburi Things to Do Tip by nattybabe

Hellfire pass museum is a must see while in Kanchanaburi. Yes, it is a little bit depressing but it is important to know the history of the area which also affected many other Nationalities. As an Australian I was drawn to the area where so many Australians had died in the Second World War. The Museum was opened in the 1990's by an Australian who wanted to let the world know what the POW's went through. With free entry the museum is extremely well done. It portrays an unbiased view of what actually happened and displays original photos and documents from the Second World War.

We got lost in the past there and were surprised that we actually spent 3 hours in there! If you go to Hellfire pass, don't just do the walk, check out the museum as well.

There is an audio guide for both the museum and the walk. It is definitely worth getting. All you need is some ID and some money to leave as a deposit. It has loads of useful information as well as first hand accounts from POW's.
