St Martin's Cathedral - Dom Sv Martina, Bratislava: 34 reviews and 77 photos
Although this is the church which deserves most of the attention here in Bratislava, it somehow suffers from its dimensions: Too large to be an usual church, too small to look like a popmpous cathedral and a tower which looks to be too large for the whole church. However, St. Martin’s was the coronation church of the Austro-Hungarian empire with nineteen Habsburg Kings and queens being crowned here. On top of its spire, you will see a 300kg – replica of the Hungarian crown. Unfortunately, St. Martin’s suffers from the vibrations caused by the traffic on the main street next to it, so that its structure does need frequent refurbishment. The church was built in the 14th century, replacing a smaller one from the 13th century.
