When in Ottawa, be sure to get some exercise while exploring a "UNESCO World Heritage Site." The Rideau Canal snakes through the city, giving residents a lovely corridor for biking, walking, jogging, jump-roping, in-line skating, roller-skiing, and general meditation.
And in winter time, enjoy the world's largest ice skating rink!
(The Rideau Canal is also quite "historic," and I've dealt with the historic parks alongside it in the "Things to do" section of my Ottawa page.)

Directions: from the Ottawa River, the canal "ascends" through a series of seven locks, and then gradually meanaders to the south and west
