"Don't drive at night outside..." Australia Warnings Or Dangers Tip by bdschobel

Australia Warnings and Dangers: 237 reviews and 225 photos

Don't drive at night outside cities! A kangaroo smashed into the side of my car, doing considerable damage (and costing me the deductible of 700 Australian dollars). It could have been much worse. The Australians know better. In general, the roads are worse than I expected. The population is just too small to justify huge highways like you see in the U.S. and Europe. Sharing 2-lane roads with gigantic 'road trains' (triple tractor-trailers) can be scary. I also got stopped for speeding, believe it or not, but didn't get a ticket!
