"Open-air museum" Suomenlinna Island & Fortress Tip by tim07

Suomenlinna Island & Fortress, Helsinki: 117 reviews and 257 photos

Founded in 1748 this is one of the biggest sea fortresses in the world. Today the island is an open-air museum, great to explore for a few hours. As well as the fort's ruins, the island has plenty of green spaces & sheltered bays to explore. When I visited in the summer it was a riot of colour due to the many plants & wild flowers there.

The admission to the island is free & it's open all year round.
