st. vitus's cathedral is the top attraction of prague castle and one of the top attractions of prague. work began on this gothic cathedral in 1344 on the orders of john of luxembourg. the first architect was matthew of arras. after his death the work was turned over to peter parler. construction on the cathedral continued on until the 20th century. the cathedral houses the crown jewels and the tomb of st. wenceslas.
