Is the Turmberg the southernmost of the Kraichgau hills or the northernmost peak of the Black Forest? Opinions are different on this worldshaking question, but everyone agrees that the Turmberg tower is the best viewpoint of Karlsruhe. From the top of the tower you'll have a wide view of the city, the Rhine plain over to the Palatine Forest and the Vosges, the Northern Black Forest, the Kraichgau and Odenwald.

The tower once belonged to a castle, built by the Counts of Hohenberg between 1230 and 1250. Since the late 19th century it has become a popular viewpoint.

Want to enjoy a romantic sunset over the Rhine plain? This is the place to go!

Ok, looks like it does have a long history. Didn't think it was the relic of an old castle. And the views are superb!
