This was founded in 1929 by a number of wealthy NY families. They include the Rockefellers, Sullivans, Bliss, and other well known types. It was to have people begin to understand the arts of our time. It has been at this location since 1939, and has 630,00 Square feet of exhibits. The museum has today 150,000 works of "art". The floors are sectioned into the discipline. It includes prints, paintings, architecture and design, photos, drawings, and film. There are 6 floors, as shown.
Cost is $20, and $16 for seniors. Open 9:30 to 6:30PM, but to 9:00PM Fridays.
Address: 11 west 53rd
Directions: Between 5th & 6th Avenues, and on 53rd and 54th streets cross section.
