"Pulau Payar Marine Park" Pulau Langkawi Things to Do Tip by f1katt

Pulau Langkawi Things to Do: 581 reviews and 1,336 photos

Ferry leaves from either Langkawi or Penang and takes to you to the Island known as Pulau Payar. You get briefed before putting on your snorkelling gear. Two hours later there is a wonderful huge buffet feast. After that you can snorkel some more before they take you out on a little boat to the shore where they feed the small sharks while you stand in the water! They also have a deck with lots of deck chairs protected by shade cloth so you dont get too hot and you can relax a little before being taken back by ferry. Plenty of fish, coral is not living however but the experience and price make it well worth the trip. Make sure you take a couple of large bottles of water. They do have drinks and water there but the drinks that come with the buffet lunch might not be enough after snorkelling and being in the sun and eating and although you can buy drinks, it all gets packed up 30-60min before the return ferry arrives. We paid 280RM per adult for the day trip. You can go scuba diving for a bit extra however if you dont have experience I wouldnt waste the time learning as its only a day trip. Tour bus will also pick you up from various Penang Hotels, take you to ferry terminal, and take you back to our hotel from ferry terminal at end of the day. Ferry ride can get a bit choppy so be careful if you get sea sick otherwise ferry is comfortable and they put on a dvd for you to watch during the 2 hour journey.
