"Tourist prices in restaurants" Prague Warnings Or Dangers Tip by Dabs

The closer you are to the old town and the throngs of tourists, the more likely you will encounter tourist treatment at restaurants. The best advice is to look for restaurants outside the tourist zone but if you do eat in the center, watch for these:

Part 1-if they bring anything to your table that you did not order, send it back, ask if it's included or expect to see an additional charge on your bill. If you are outside the tourist area, you may not be charged. This happened to us once, 12kc each for bread, and once to Ed when he ate a very expensive pretzel at a pub

Part 2-check your bill for items you may not have ordered, this did not happen to us

Part 3-expect that your server will add on a service charge or tip, this happened to us twice, the first added on 15%, the 2nd added on 13%. Outside the tourist area of Prague, this didn't happen. You are not required to pay it if you think the service was not adequate. It was suggested to me that the normal tipping practice is rounding up the bill (ie bill is 74, round up to 80), other locals suggested that they tip 10%, others said 10-30kc but certainly no one in Prague except tourists tip 15%. David and I had a difference of opinion about this, he wanted to leave more, I wanted to leave what was customary, not because I didn't want to tip but because I believe you should respect local custom.
