Very nice excursion if you haven't had yet a mudbath. The Volcáno El Totumo (I checked on the internet apparently it is a real volcano) is a 15 meter-high mound, spitting mud from the crater, where people can be accommodated and have a bath. Floating in the cold, dense mud (which is also supposed to have medicinal benefits), is an interesting experience. After bathing you will wash in the lagoon right off the volcano. Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel with you as well as small change for tipping the local men and women who will help you in enjoying the visit once there, giving massage in the volcano, taking photos of you with your camera or helping you washing in the lagoon.

The excursion I booked (US$ 25) was well organized and on the way back included a stop at the beach on the coast at Manzanillo del Mar for a decent meal and some relax. I booked the excursion through my hotel's concierge with "Eco Travel Los Pinos" but my understanding is that it is a pretty standard itinerary offered by other usual Operators.

It takes more or less an hour to get to the Volcano from Cartagena. The tour departs in the morning and return in the afternoon at about 3:00 pm.
