All Over Athens: "Bring Your Food!" Athens Restaurant Tip by kanjon

Athens Restaurants: 528 reviews and 917 photos

It is great to pic-nic when in Athens, as everywhere in the world. Bring your own stuff or buy nice pies and sandwhiches in the cafeterias and bakeries, some fresh fruit and wine + water. Eat in the wonderful parks and youīll have the meal of a lifetime!

We bought hot subs with wonderful cheese and bacon filling, spinach pies, fresh cherries, tomatoes, wine and of course, water.

Some of the sights, like Acropolis, donīt accept picnic-ers. So, choose your spot well and enjoy!

Favorite Dish: I am very fond of the cafeteria in the Pireus metro station. They have hot pies and subs, and cold sandwhiches and salads and all kinds of beverages. Everything is super-fresh and you get all you need to get outside of the food in a bag if you say you want to take it out.

There are street vendors good bakeries everywhere, pick and try and you will find your favorite. Donīt forget, greeks are good with their cheeses!
