The Orthodox Cathedral in the Upper Old Town is one of Tallinn's most beautiful and impressive pieces of architecture. The Cathedral xwas built in 1900 during the Tsarist reign of Estonia. The building was deliberatley located across from the Castle as a reminder of Russi's power and hold over Estonia.
The church is topped by a series of Russian style cupola domes sitting on top of the bell towers which hold 11 bells including the largest bell in Tallinn, weighing 15 tonnes!
The lavish interior has many fine icons and a ornte high altar.
