The Tides: "Don't Believe the Hype!" Top 5 Page for this destination Boracay Island Restaurant Tip by sirenna

Boracay Island Restaurants: 267 reviews and 449 photos

This restaurant is located in The Tides Hotel, a large modern building right in the middle of the mall. Due to the location it wouldn't be my choice of places to stay (going all the way to Boracay and staying in the crowded mall seems to me to be missing the point, somehow) but it's a good spot for a restaurant, located as it is on the roof deck at the top of the building.
However, the ambiance was non-existant; at 8pm there were only a couple of guests there, picking listlessly at their chicken wings and playing with their phones. The decor is very minimalistic and uninteresting, and to our dismay they were playing loud hip-hop music, which does nothing to put one in the mood for a relaxing meal! To be fair, they did change it when asked to.
The food; our group ordered stuffed chicken breast (which was OK), BBQ chicken (the tiniest most embarrassing little portion imaginable), lemongrass crusted fillet of dory (which was excellent) and chicken teriyaki rice (mediocre).
The vegetables were of the canned variety, and the mashed potato tasted like instant processed mash, and was cold. Apart from the fish, the rest of the food was really nothing special.
Having read about "renowned chef" Fernando Aracama, I was really expecting much better from this restaurant.
