"Bangkok hotel, online reservations or not" Bangkok Hotel Tip by bulldogtwo

I believe that it is going to depend on a few things.
First, what time of day/night that you are arriving. If you are coming in at midnight, do you want to be looking for a place to stay. Second, how heavy/light are you travelling? Do you want to be hauling around bags until you find a place to stay? And, are you looking to stay in an upscale hotel? If not but you have an idea as to where then it also may not be a problem. I know the city but we always arrive late at night and I always reserve on-line, and usually for the whoe trip. Season will also determine if hotels are going to be busy and if you can just walk in and find a vacancy.
On line reservations, be aware of their cancellation policies and or their policy if things go wrong. Some online places do not have a good reputation of refunding in a timely manner, if at all. I thought Wired Destination was a good online place but had problems getting a refund when the hotel couldn't accomodate the way they said. Asia Room however was not a problem and promptly got a refund. Also, online places have a way of changing from year to year, and many of the today have feedback from customers. Take the time and read them.
Hope this helped, good luck
