"Aramagh-e Hafez" Shiraz Things to Do Tip by call_me_rhia

Aramagh-e Hafez is what people call Hafez tomb - the final resting place of the famous 14th century Shiraz-born poet. His marble tomb is located inside a large garden with plenty of fruit trees, it is surmounted by a cupola and his tomb is engraved with two of his poems (ghazals).
Every visitor to Shiraz comes to this tomb - often with a purpose; people believe that if they have a wish and open at random the Diwan-e Hafez and read a ghazal in full, they will know (by interpreting the ghazal) if their wish will turn into reality or not.
Although Hafez lived in the 14th century, his tomb is quite new - since the entire garden and mausoleum has changed often throught the centuries. The place as we see it today is the result of a 1953 refurbishment - and the cupola under which hib body lies looks a bit like a dervish hat.
